· Total Vegetarians eat only plant food. They do not eat any animal foods, including fish, eggs, dairy products, and honey.
· Vegans not only omit all animal products from their diets, but they also eliminate them from the rest of their life. Vegans use nothing from animals, such as leather, wool, and silk.
· Lacto-Vegetarians will include dairy products into their diet of plant food.
· Lacto-Ovo-Vegetarians eat both eggs and dairy products.
· Pesco-Vegetarians include fish into their diets.
· Pollo-Vegetarians eat poultry, such as chicken, turkey, and duck.
Lacto-ovo was my vote...because that is what the "wonderful" professor is!! :)

ReplyDeleteI voted total vegetarian because I think it might be the most challenging. I've been reading a lot about completely raw diets...that's tough, we cook everything!
ReplyDeleteI voted total vegetarian because the way I see it you might as well get the whole experience of being without. Who knows you might like it. A friend of mine after having her first child went vegetarian because during her pregnancy she lost the interest and couldn't stand the smell of cooking meat anymore. For good food without meat I like Vietnamese restaurants, I always find a noodle/veggie dish with no meat (bean sauce on it) I have to say they are always good. I can't wait to see what you decide to make. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteI love a good steak every now and then; however, if I was going to be a vegetarian, it would be lacto-vegetarian. I love milk! What do you do if you hate most vegetables?
ReplyDeleteI am reading the book "Eat to Live" by Joel Fuhrman, M.D. Everything he says makes total sense and he definitely leans toward being a vegetarian. I need to finish that book. I was on a quest for wellness in January but then classes started and reading for pleasure became a thing of the past:)I think it is really wonderful you are trying so many different types of meals. Let us know how it goes!
ReplyDeleteI have tried some vegetarian dishes that were not too bad. It is something that I wouldn't to all the time, but I did enjoy some of the dishes.
ReplyDeleteHelen - I am very interested as to what you cook this week. As I have gotten older...I am enjoying veggies more than ever! Interestingly, I still eat meat; however, I do not eat as much as I have in the past. I am trying to focus more on healthy lifestyle and veggies is a good way to accomplish that change. Happy cooking...
ReplyDeleteHelen I'm not a vegetarian by no straight of the imagination so when you posted this I really didn't care to read it. After looking at it a second, third, and a six time I just may try this. Wait a minute you did post something on fish earlier, let me find that post first.
